The all-new Pegas Scroll Band Saw differs from saws you may have seen in the past. It’s essentially a combination of the two saws portrayed by it’s unique name. It utilizes the same Pegas blades as their other saws, which as subscriber to Bear Wood Supply, you would know are the highest of quality. Redesigned from the ground up, this saw is able to use blades much smaller blades than any other band saw on the market. This option allows you to create much more intricate designs and projects. This is due to the ability to cut smaller dimensions and have more mobility and versatility with the blade itself. This is ideal for any woodworker who uses band saws or scroll saws, and would be a great addition to your power tool collection.

We interviewed Pegas about the Scroll Band Saw!

We interviewed Bob Duncan from Grobet to ask a few questions about their new product. He went over many focal points on this new device and gave detailed explanations on why this saw excels. Check out the video below from our Bear Wood Supply Co Youtube channel.

What did Steve Good from Scroll Saw Workshop have to say about it?

Pegas Scroll Band Saw 1st Look:

I have had the opportunity to have a review unit of the Pegas Scroll Band Saw in my shop for a few days. In this video, I am going to give you a taste of what it can do. I do not have much skill built up with the tool so I don’t want to call this a review.

This Pegas band saw is unique because it uses blades as small as scroll saw blades. Most band saws will only go down to 1/8″ blades. The Pegas Scroll Band Saw goes down to blades as small as a scroll saw #5 size blade. The largest blade it accepts is a 1/8″.

I can see this band saw being popular for woodcarving blanks, band saw boxes, 3D puzzles, and many woodcraft projects. Like any skill tool, the Pegas Scroll Band Saw does take some practice.

In the video, I will show you my successes and struggles so you can get an idea of what to expect. I only have a couple hours of cutting on the saw and my skill was quickly improving. When I cut 3/4″ to 1.5″ thick boards my accuracy was nearly as good as the scroll saw. I cut a blank the was nearly five inches thick and I struggled with tight turns. On subtle turns it did great.

The project I show here is a 3″ X 3″ X 8″ blank and I am cutting a compound cut ornament. It does not come out perfect and I do make a few mistakes but I can see the potential as my skill improves.

This ornament is just a test project. I did not spend much time with the pattern design but it turned out kind of neat.

I will warn you that the video gets a bit long as I make the cut. I wanted to show as much as possible so you could see the performance. When I cut the second side of the ornament I speed the video up. ”
